Presidential Advisor Louis Gérald Gilles, Prime Minister Garry Conille and the Acting Director General of the Haitian National Police, Rameau Normil, among others, visited the State University Hospital of Haiti (HUEH) on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Their visit comes about 24 hours after the police took back control of the building housing the health institution from gangs, according to an announcement made yesterday Monday by the Acting Director General of the PNH, Rameau Normil.
THE HAITI FACTOR, July 9, 2024._ The Acting Director General of the National Police of Haiti, Rameau Normil, during a press briefing, confirmed yesterday Monday, the resumption of control of the State University Hospital of Haiti (HUEH), commonly called “the General Hospital” from the hands of gangs.
Less than twenty-four hours after the announcement, a delegation of officials from the Government and the Transitional Council (CPT) visited the premises of the building housing the health institution.
The Presidential Advisor, Dr. Louis Gérald Gilles, the Prime Minister, Dr. Garry Conille and the Acting Director General of the Haitian National Police, Rameau Normil are part of the delegation, according to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office.
During their visit to the largest hospital in the country, located in the heart of Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, the Haitian government authorities discussed the need, the urgency and the obligation they have to make the General Hospital functional again so that patients can have access to it.
At the same time, the Presidential Advisor, Leslie Voltaire, visited the Delmas 33 electrical substation in a context where residents of various areas of the Commune are paying the bills and consuming the blackout.
