Various civil society structures in Gonaïves, including the Association of Young Women Executives of L’Estère, Action Against Violence, Family Without Borders and Committed Citizens, among others, are working to rebuild the National Palace. The leaders of these entities took advantage of the commemoration of the 3rd anniversary of the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse to launch an advocacy campaign to this effect.
THE HAITI FACTOR, July 8, 2024._ Official launch yesterday Sunday July 7, 2024, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 3rd year of the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse, of the project for the reconstruction of the National Palace.
The Initiative is the work of the Association of Young Women Executives of L’Estère, Action against Violence, Family without Borders and Committed Citizens, among others.
The building was destroyed by the earthquake of January 12, 2010, which devastated Haiti, particularly Port-au-Prince, the capital.
While the project to rebuild the institution was launched by former President Jovenel Moïse, socio-political entities in the City of Independence want it to be realized.
During the launching ceremony, Gonaïves welcomed the initiative, the aim of which is to immortalize this dream so cherished by the late President. Aware of the importance of such a building, they say they hope that the entire country in general and the Haitian Diaspora will follow suit.
“The blood of former President Jovenel Moise, who had great ambitions for the country, forms the Star of David. The date of July 7 symbolizes the spiritual death of 11 million Haitians. And this blood must serve as a light for humanity,” according to Ambassador Steeve M. Colin, one of the promoters of the initiative.
