Certain socio-political structures express their serious concerns about the deterioration of the security situation in Haiti. This is the case of the National Alliance of Organized and Solidarity Forces for Haiti (ANFÒS for Haiti) which, through a note situation, says it strongly condemns the exponential rise in acts of violence by armed gangs against the inhabitants of Solino, Pont-Sondé and Arcahaie, among others. On the other hand, the coordination of “ANFÒS for Haiti” asks the Haitian government authorities to adopt drastic measures aimed at stemming the security crisis.
THE HAITI FACTOR, November 1, 2024._Several areas of Haiti, notably Solino, Pont-Sondé, Cabaret, Arcahaie and Tabarre, among others, have for some time been under the influence of armed gangs. A situation that concerns the political structure called “National Alliance of Organized and Solidarity Forces for Haiti (ANFÒS for Haiti).
In an economic report, she said she condemned in the strongest terms the surge of violence by armed gangs against the Haitian civilian population of the aforementioned neighborhoods. Through its note, ANFÒS recalled that on the night of October 3, more than a hundred people, including young children and women, were murdered in Pont-Sondé by members of the Gran Grif gang in the Artibonite department.
« This unprecedented violence, both indiscriminate and gratuitous, only exacerbates, on the one hand, the precarious situation of a population already prey to poverty and unemployment. On the other hand, it jeopardizes any effort to create a climate favoring lasting social peace, an essential factor for unfailing political stability, capable of attracting investments for the economic recovery of the country. denounced the structure.
Faced with this lamentable situation, ANFÒS for Haiti says it is concerned about the political will or the real capacity of the authorities in power, one of whose missions, within the framework of the transitional governance agreement, consists of the restoration of security in the country.
The ANFÒS Coordinator for Haiti, Walsonn Sanon also criticized the fact that government authorities often ignore their responsibilities and the socio-economic challenges facing the country. Also, he adds, these authorities seem to be engaging in a struggle for total control of power and the defense of party interests, to the detriment of services to the population.
Such behavior, Walsonn Sanon warned, which risks compromising compliance with the government’s roadmap, including, among other things, the organization of general elections for the transfer of power to legitimate authorities in February 2026.
While deploring these counterproductive attitudes, ANFÒS for Haiti says it urges the authorities in power to take, as a matter of urgency, concrete and effective measures to respect the fundamental rights of the population, as guaranteed by the Constitution in force and by the international instruments to which Haiti is a party.
The structure says it reaffirms its unwavering commitment to building a bright future for Haiti, a country where every citizen feels part of a community of destiny living freely and with dignity, far from the suffering imposed by groups with unspeakable and unacknowledged intentions, but having the certain consequence of the destruction of the Haitian nation, if nothing is done at this stage.
As a result, it calls for urgent actions punctuated by surpassing oneself and a demonstration of patriotism and recognition.
