Since Wednesday June 12, 2024, as part of the fight against organized crime, the Haitian National Police (PNH) launched a vast operation in “Bas-Delmas” to dismantle gang centers in the area led by Jimmy Cherizier alias “Barbecue”, several agents from specialized units, including the Anti-Gang Tactical Unit (UTAG), the Intervention and Research Brigade (BRI), the Intervention and Order Maintenance Corps (CIMO ), the SWAT and the heavy engineering section of the PNH, are deployed in the Canez Construction zone, which is located in Delmas 4 and Tokyo, in Delmas 2.
As part of this ongoing operation, the police exchanged numerous shots with armed individuals and unblocked certain roads blocked by barricades…
In addition, at the entrance to Delmas 4, in front of the Discofa, to prevent the police from reaching their target, bandits blocked the road with containers. Despite this, the PNH did not back down and continued to exchange fire with the bandits and throw tear gas at them.
