Port-au-Prince, May 5, 2024 [AlterPresse] — A little ray of sunshine, but a lot of clouds. This image is in line with what we are living now in the country of Haiti.

A Transitional Presidential Council has just been set up. There was a glimmer of hope, but it quickly faded with the misgivings that appeared within the Council at the time of choosing its leader.

This is called a 4 out of 7 majority agreement to choose a president and all prime ministers. This raises a lot of discussion around other sectors and in society.

The immediate impression that remains is as if there was an attempt to unlock the transition. But can a key transition be allowed to solve the size of this crisis that is undermining the whole society? Can a key transition be allowed to allow Haiti to reach stability?

What is happening reinforces the desperation signal in the population. What corrections can be made quickly, so that the transition does not go astray? [gp apr 05/05/2024 10 :00]
