Haiti: Minister of Commerce Monazard pledges close collaboration to overcome current challenges

In the presence of the Presidential Advisor, Mr. Laurent Saint-Cyr, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Mr. James Monazard, participated this Thursday, June 28, 2024, in a luncheon at the Montana Hotel. Organized by the Haitian Tourist Association (ATH), this event allowed to establish a constructive dialogue on the revival of the national economy. The discussions brought together representatives of the private sector, the government, the Presidential Transitional Council, associations including AmCham, ADIH, ATH RPH, CCI, CCIHC and the Macaya Institute, emphasizing the importance of close collaboration to overcome current economic challenges.

THE HAITI FACTOR, June 29, 2024._In his speech, Minister Monazard stressed the need for frank, sincere and continuous dialogue between the private sector and the ministries he heads. He presented the main axes of his program, emphasizing an inclusive and collaborative approach to revitalize the national economy. The Minister reaffirmed his commitment to creating a business-friendly environment and promised to work tirelessly to establish strong and sustainable economic foundations.

Minister Monazard also spoke of the indispensable support of the Presidential Transitional Council and the Prime Minister, His Excellency Mr. Gary Conille. He affirmed that economic recovery requires close cooperation between the government and the private sector. This synergy is essential to implement effective and sustainable reforms, thus benefiting the entire population.

This lunch meeting allowed for fruitful exchanges on various problems and possible solutions, providing a platform for direct dialogue between key players in the national economy. The discussions covered a variety of topics, from current obstacles to future opportunities, highlighting a shared desire to overcome economic challenges.

In the field of tourism, Minister Monazard reassured the members of the Haitian Tourist Association (ATH). During his time as holder of the Ministry of Tourism, he proposed to continually support operators with a view to relaunching tourism.
