Canada :
“On behalf of the Government of Canada, I congratulate the Presidential Transitional Council (PTC) for having appointed the new Prime Minister-designate of Haiti and for having made progress towards the completion of this important transition of power.

“We encourage Prime Minister-designate Garry Conille and the CPT to immediately establish a new government that prioritizes the well-being of the Haitian people. We look forward to Prime Minister Conille and the CPT taking the necessary steps to restore democratic institutions, organize free and fair elections, promote good governance and work with the international community to restore national security and bring peace. necessary aid to the Haitian people, who have suffered so much.

“The ties between Canada and Haiti are strong. As Haiti continues its path toward the restoration of democracy, it can continue to count on Canada to provide security, development assistance and humanitarian aid to the Haitian people. »

The Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) welcome the unanimous election of Garry Conille by the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) as Prime Minister of the Transition which “constitutes another important step on the path to free and fair and return to constitutional order in Haiti.”

Aware that there are still many challenges to overcome, CARICOM expresses its support for the new Prime Minister and reiterates its commitment to the Presidential Transitional Council and the Haitian people. CARICOM looks forward to the early completion of the process to formally establish the transitional governance institutions.

CARICOM commends the CPT for placing the interest of the country and the Haitian people above all else. This will remain a primary objective as the CPT, in collaboration with Prime Minister Conille, continues to move forward in establishing the essential, broadly representative institutions necessary for the delivery of public services, the provision of humanitarian aid, the facilitation of socio-economic improvement and the holding of free and fair elections in a timely manner. »
