Agents of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) intercepted on the night of Monday November 18 to Tuesday November 19, 2024, at Poste-Marchand, a mini-bus which had on board individuals transporting weapons and ammunition to destination of Pétion-Ville. In the process, another truck which was part of the same approach was also seized by the police in Canapé-Vert. However, certain armed individuals fled, thus sowing terror in Canapé-Vert, Bourdon, until in certain places in Pétion-Ville, Radio Caraibes reported this Tuesday morning. At least 10 were killed and their bodies burned between Bourdon and Pétion-Ville.
THE HAITI FACTOR, November 19, 2024._Armed individuals on board several vehicles including mini-buses and a truck with civilians on board in possession of weapons and ammunition were about to go to Pétion-Ville, on the night of Monday 18 to Tuesday November 19, 2024.
On the other hand, one of the two mini-buses which were part of the convoy was intercepted by the police at Poste-Marchant, on the Lalue road. Aside from the mini-bus, the police recovered at least two (2) high caliber weapons. This is what Radio Caraibes FM reported this Tuesday morning in the newspaper “PREMYE OKAZYON”.
In the same vein, police officers assigned to the Canapé-Vert Sub-Police Station, supported by members of self-defense groups and notables in the area, also blocked the road to a truck which was transporting armed, hooded civilians who headed for Pétion-Ville, commune in the Western Department of Haiti.
During this police intervention, several individuals fled. The latter allegedly threw themselves into certain spaces serving as hiding places, according to RTVC.
Since then, around 2 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, November 19, detonations were heard in Canapé-Vert, Morne Sainte-Marie, Bourdon, Juvénat and as far as Pétion-Ville, among others, where the Residents of the aforementioned areas were on alert.
We are told that the police in Canapé-Vert and members of the civilian population are beginning to identify unknown persons present in their community. At least 10 were killed and their bodies charred between Canapé-Vert Bourdon and Pétion-Ville, confirms police officer Lionel Lazarre, Deputy Spokesperson of the Haitian National Police, specifying that operations continue.
According to information reported to RTVC by its reporter Mackenson Rémy, five (5) individuals whose identities have not been revealed, were arrested in Pétion-Ville by the police, accompanied by security agents from the town hall of the Commune.
Due to the situation prevailing in the area, the police and self-defense groups are launching search operations on pedestrians as well as vehicles using the roads of Canapé-Vert. This makes the roads almost inaccessible. leading to Pétion-Ville and other surrounding areas.
Remember that eight (8) days ago, the gang leader of the “viv ansanm” coalition, the former UDMO police officer, Jimmy Chérisier known as “Barbecue” who answered questions from journalist Henri Guerrier, at the broadcast “boukante lapawòl”, threatened to deploy its troops in Pétion-Ville and its surroundings.
