The press release of the Multinational Security Support Mission states that a team of the MSS patrolling along the road from the General Hospital to the APN noticed that a truck was being attacked and looted by bandits. “They observed that the gang had shot the driver dead while they were looting the truck loaded with bags of rice,” the statement reported.
The MSS said the patrol team immediately engaged in the clash when the gangs started shooting at them. And it was during this clash that a member of the Kenyan contingent was shot in the shoulder. He was evacuated to hospital. He is receiving the necessary treatment for his case but his condition is stable, according to the statement.
The MSS also said that armed bandits were injured by gunfire and their lives were likely to be in danger.
