The Consulate General of Haiti in Santiago (Dominican Republic) greets all Haitian compatriots living in the Dominican Republic, particularly those in the Cibao region, the Consulate takes this opportunity to inform the community that it will close its doors today Tuesday at noon (12:00 PM) due to Hurricane Beryl category 5 hitting the island, which can bring strong winds and cause flooding.
The Consulate is asking the community to be vigilant during the hurricane, especially those living in high-risk areas, while protecting important documents such as passports, birth certificates, Dermalog cards, etc.

Bulletin 11 am :
As of 11am on Tuesday, July 2, the center of Hurricane Beryl was located near latitude 15.3 north and longitude 68.9 west. That is 227 miles (365 km) south of the Dominican Republic and 270 miles (433 km) southeast of Haiti. Beryl is moving toward the west-northwest at near 22 mph (35 km/h), and this general movement is expected to continue through Wednesday, followed by a more westerly turn on Thursday. On the forecast track, the center of Beryl will move rapidly across the central Caribbean Sea today and is expected to pass near Jamaica on Wednesday and the Cayman Islands on Thursday. The center is expected to approach the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico on Thursday evening.
Reports from Air Force Reserve and NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate maximum sustained winds are near 160 mph (260 km/h) with higher gusts. Beryl is a Category 5 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Weakening is expected later in the day, but Beryl is still expected to be near major hurricane intensity as it moves toward the central Caribbean and passes near Jamaica on Wednesday and the Cayman Islands on Thursday. Additional weakening is expected afterward, although Beryl is expected to remain a hurricane in the northwestern Caribbean.
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 40 miles (65 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 km).
– A hurricane watch is now in effect on the southern coast of Haiti from the border with the Dominican Republic to Anse d’Hainault.
– A tropical storm warning is in effect for the southern coast of the Dominican Republic, from Punta Palenque westward to the border with Haiti.
– Tropical storm conditions are expected in the warning area along the southern coast of Hispaniola later today.
– Storm surge could raise water levels up to 1 to 3 feet (30 to 90cm) above ground level in areas of onshore winds along the southern coast of Hispaniola.
– Hurricane Beryl is expected to produce rainfall totals of 4 to 8 inches (10 to 20 cm), with localized maximums of 12 inches (30 cm), over Jamaica and southwestern Haiti through Wednesday evening. Beryl will also produce rainfall amounts of 4 to 8 inches (10 to 20 cm) with isolated amounts of 10 inches (25 cm) on the Barahona Peninsula in the southwest Dominican Republic. Isolated totals of 6 inches (15 cm) or more are also expected over the mountainous terrain of the central Dominican Republic. This rainfall has the potential to cause flash flooding and mudslides.
