The President of the Presidential Transitional Council, Mr. Edgard Leblanc Fils, received this Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the Villa d’Accueil, a delegation led by the former glory of the Haitian selection of 1974, Mr. Ernst Jean-Baptiste, nicknamed Zenono.
The discussions focused mainly on Haiti’s participation in the qualifying phase of the 2026 World Cup to be held in North America (United States, Canada, Mexico). Mr. Ernst Jean-Baptiste highlighted the commitment of the Haitian diaspora, particularly those residing in Canada and the United States, in mobilizing funds for the renovation of certain sports parks, including Parc St. Victor in Cap-Haïtien.
The delegation also expressed its ambition to build a sports center in each municipality of the country, with the aim of promoting sport as a vector for reducing juvenile delinquency and strengthening peace.
