The sunny days are here, the desire for salads is back!

A delicious and original recipe

No, salads are not boring and bland dishes ! There are delicious and original salad recipes.

Dietitian Margaux, who has more than 400,000 followers on Instagram, offers an exotic salad recipe that is easy to reproduce at home.

She is composed :

  • mesclun (mixture of shoots and leaves);
  • avocado (cut into thin slices);
  • cucumbers (cut into thin slices);
  • of radish (grated into thin strips);
  • of shrimps;
  • a few mint leaves to flavor everything;
  • with a passion fruit sauce.

For the sauce, pour the flesh of a passion fruit into a bowl, add two tablespoons of olive oil, salt and Espelette pepper. Mix to obtain a homogeneous and creamy sauce.

Salad as a main course: a great idea for summer!

Salads can be eaten as a main course. But to avoid post-meal cravings, you should opt for a nutritionally balanced salad.

As a reminder, a balanced meal is a meal that consists of: three main food groups: one-quarter protein, one-quarter carbohydrates, and one-half vegetables (fiber). Not forgetting lipids, ideally unsaturated fats.

Contrary to what you might believe, a salad can bring together all these nutrients.

For vegetables you have the choice: tomatoes, cucumber, radishes, corn, carrots, peppers…

For protein, you can add to your salad:cold chicken, tuna, sardines, eggs or even cheese (feta, mozzarella, cubes of Emmental, Gouda, etc.).

As for the carbohydrate portion, it can be provided by legumes (lentils, chickpeas, etc.), quinoa, bulgur, rice or cold pasta (ideally complete or semi-complete).

In a salad, the fat intake often comes from the dressing. Choose vegetable oils rich in omega 3: olive oil, flaxseed oil, walnut oil, rapeseed oil… Avocado is also an excellent source of good fat.

You can also add pieces of fruit to your salads. Like vegetables, they provide fiber, vitamins and minerals.
