The southern coast of Haiti is under threat from Hurricane Beryl, which is expected to hit it this evening. As a result, the Maritime and Navigation Service of Haiti (SEMANAH) has announced that all cabotage activities are prohibited on the southern side of the country in order to avoid the worst.

SEMANAH wants to be anticipatory. In a note published by the management of the institution, it informs of the measures taken by the authorities to avoid any unpleasant situations during and after the passage of the hurricane. In this sense, SEMANAH advises that it prohibits all cabotage activities on the southern coast of the country and urges operators of small boats to remain in their home ports or in sheltered waters.

Given the danger posed by this category 4 hurricane, SEMANAH informs that precaution is required. According to the forecasts cited by the said institution, the southern coast of Haiti will receive strong gusts of wind starting this Tuesday. There will also be significant rainfall that can vary between 50 to 150 millimeters of rain.
