P-au-P., July 3, 2024 [AlterPresse] — The departments located on the southern coast of Haiti are on orange alert and those less exposed, on yellow alert, on the occasion of the passage in the Caribbean Sea of the powerful hurricane Beryl of category 5, then reduced to 4, according to information gathered by AlterPresse.
As rains and winds are recorded in the affected regions of the southwest, south, southeast as well as the west, east and part of the north, the authorities ask the population to strictly observe safety instructions.
Meteorological and civil protection officials, as well as Prime Minister Garry Conille, are urging the population, among other things, not to venture across flooded rivers, to reinforce the roofs of houses, to keep animals away from flood zones and to protect their important documents.
A video message from Garry Conille, who is travelling in the United States, was released by his office on social media.
