Hurricanes take commanding lead over Harpy Eagles in West Indies Championship

In the second-round match of the West Indies Championships at Warner Park in St Kitts, the Leeward Islands Hurricanes have firmly taken control against the Guyana Harpy Eagles, showcasing their dominance in both batting and bowling.

Having posted a commanding first innings total of 352, the Hurricanes continued their impressive performance by restricting the Harpy Eagles to 188 runs. The Hurricanes then extended their lead by reaching 52-1 in their second innings, leading by 216 runs with nine wickets in hand.

The Hurricanes resumed their innings from an overnight score of 299-6, with Rahkeem Cornwall (39) and Jeremiah Louis (3) pushing the total to 352. Cornwall, who added 15 runs to his overnight score, secured the second half-century of the innings, while Hayden Walsh Jr contributed an unbeaten 20 off just six balls. Ronaldo Ali Mohamed, who had claimed 2-49 overnight, continued his impressive performance, finishing with figures of 5-69.

Guyanese side struggled against the spin

In response, the Guyanese side struggled against the spin of Daniel Doram and pace of Jeremiah Louis.
