The branch of the National School Canteen Program (PNCS) in the South organized an important meeting this week in the presence of representatives of key partner organizations, including the World Food Program (WFP), the National Development Bank (BND), Project PROMISE from the World Bank and the French Embassy.

The objective of this meeting was to evaluate the performances of the previous two quarters, to discuss the challenges encountered, and to propose strategies to improve school feeding in the region.

The results of the past two quarters were mixed and marked by socio-political unrest which hampered usual activities. Despite these difficulties, the canteens managed to achieve a maximum food supply quota during school days, demonstrating impressive resilience in the face of adversity.

Regarding the outlook for the current quarter and the coming year, participants highlighted several promising initiatives. In particular, the integration of school gardens to provide fresh products directly to the canteen through the joint PAM/BND program. This approach will not only ensure a constant supply of fresh food, but will also promote agricultural education among students.

Another proposal discussed was raising awareness among parents to actively support the school feeding program. Involving parents in this process is crucial to ensure its long-term sustainability.
