iciHaiti – Health: Assessment of the National Ambulance Center (May 2024)

Of the 751 cases handled by the National Ambulance Center (CAN) in May 2024 (+60.47% compared to the previous month https://www.icihaiti.com/article-42332-icihaiti-sante-bilan-du -centre-ambulancier-national-avril-2024.html), transfers (19.31%) and obstetric emergencies (17.70%) were the two most important treatments.
Number and types of interventions:
5 suspected cases of cholera;
91 cases of respiratory distress (not associated with Covid-19);
88 cases of chronic diseases (various pathologies);
133 obstetric emergencies;
67 accidents on public roads;
145 transfers (references and laboratory examinations);
47 traumas (injuries & fractures of varying degrees);
21 gunshot wounds;
15 stab wounds;
139 various ailments (malaise, diarrhea, fever, anemia, abdominal pain, etc.).
Of the 751 cases supported by the CAN: 449 interventions took place in the West, 91 in Artibonite, 59 in the South-East, 45 in the North-West, 31 in the North-East, 27 in the North, 24 in Nippes, 19 in the South, 3 in the Center, 6 in Grand’Anse.
