The Haitian Prime Minister’s first trip to the United States seems to be beneficial for the country. In any case, following talks with the International Development Bank (IDB), this institution has decided to make $40 million available to Haiti for this year.
“I thank the Inter-American Development Bank for its commitment to Haiti and the provision of $40 million for this year. We will review the portfolio to align it with the new priorities before the elections and co-organize with other partners a major meeting to mobilize financing for Haiti with the participation of the private sector,” wrote the head of government on the official X account (formerly Twitter), this Monday, July 1, 2024.
It should be recalled that Garry Conille left the country on Friday, June 28, 2024, heading to the United States of America, more precisely to Washington and New York. Indeed, at Uncle Sam’s, the Head of the Haitian government should meet with international financial institutions. An inspection visit to the Haitian embassy in Washington is also on the delegation’s agenda, according to the Prime Minister’s Office of Communication.
