On Monday, August 12, 2024, the Secretary General of the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Edouard Camille, officially installed Mr. Karl-Henry PÉRICLÈS as the new Coordinator of the National Commission for the Fight against Drugs (CONALD). The ceremony was held in the presence of the outgoing coordinator, Mr. Lernerd Renaud, as well as several CONALD executives.
In his speech, Mr. PÉRICLÈS affirmed his determination to work hard to achieve the objectives of the commission and bring tangible results in the fight against drugs. His arrival marks a significant turning point for CONALD, particularly in the fight against drugs.
The ceremony was also attended by many political leaders and public administration executives, as well as several signatories of the April 3 agreement. A former police officer, Mr. PÉRICLÈS headed the union called L’Organisation VÉTÉRANS ET AMIS DE LA POLICE NATIONALE D’HAÏTI (VAPONAH), which he founded in February 2015.
This appointment comes in the context of strengthening efforts against drug trafficking and reflects an increased desire to combat this scourge on a national scale.
