Interns at La Paix University Hospital announce a protest movement to demand better working conditions.

These health professionals who have not been paid for eight months have decided to launch a protest movement to demand better working conditions. To make their voice heard, they announced a protest movement on Tuesday February 13.

“We are not asking for the impossible. We are simply asking for what is owed to us: a decent salary, dignified conditions. We love our job, but we can no longer tolerate exploitation. We formally invite online and traditional media to join us on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, (7:30 AM) to support our movement,” we read in this note.

The interns took the opportunity to highlight the bad situations they face in this public hospital which serves most of the population of the metropolitan region. “As interns of La Paix university hospital, we are faced with a deplorable situation which can no longer be ignored. For eight (8) long months, we have been working without pay, like modern slaves, at the University Hospital.
Peace.”

They did not hesitate to criticize the behavior of the authorities who did nothing to improve their situation. “While we continue to work in difficult conditions, the state seems to have decided that our work is not a priority. They have invested in sectors that, while perhaps important, do not save lives like we do every day. Funds are allocated to gangs, carnival activities, but apparently the authorities forget those who are at the bedsides of the sick day and night,” they underlined in this note.
