Israel and allied countries foiled Iran’s massive attack, Israeli military says.
Iran launched more than 100 drones and missiles towards Israel during the night from Saturday to Sunday. The Israeli army claimed this Sunday to have intercepted 99% of the shots from the massive attack launched by the Iranian state thanks to its “Iron Dome” built in 2011.
Indeed, this Iron Dome which largely intercepted Iran’s rockets was put into service in 2011 to protect the country during times of conflict. According to an article from France 24 referring to the Center for Strategic and International Studies, based in Washington, “Each “Iron Dome” interceptor costs between 40,000 and 50,000 dollars (37,500 to 46,900 euros) to produce. ”
According to reports, the device has been widely used to protect military and civilian sites against rocket fire from Gaza and Lebanon in the ongoing war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.
Furthermore, the Iranian president Ebrahim Raïssi warned on Sunday that his country’s reaction would be “stronger” in the event of “reckless behavior” from Israel, after the unprecedented Iranian attack carried out during the night.
