In a press release published on June 21, 2024, the Jacmel Town Hall imposed several security measures concerning visitors. Valid identification documents are required. No public transport entering the city after 8 p.m., are among the impositions made by the municipal administration.

The commune of Jacmel aims to be avant-garde. Due to the migratory flow caused by the growing insecurity plaguing the country, particularly in the West department, the Town Hall of the said commune is obliged to control all people who enter its territory with a view to protect its population.

In this sense, no less than four measures were considered. Municipal administrators have ordered any person who enters the municipality indiscriminately to be accompanied by a valid identity document such as the national identification card, driving license, passport, etc. Any person who wishes to live or stay in the city is also asked to register at the Jacmel Town Hall, followed by the PNH/SE and the local peace court.

Furthermore, the Jacmel Town Hall requires owners and their tenants during a lease contract to go to the Town Hall to be declared and registered. She also took the opportunity to ban public transport entering the city from eight o’clock in the evening.
