Joverlein Moïse, is launching this Sunday, July 7, 2024, on the occasion of the third commemoration of the assassination of his father, Jovenel Moïse, the Association for the Fight against Impunity and Injustice (ALII). The main mission of this association is to shed light on the circumstances of the assassination of the 58th Haitian president, Jovenel Moïse.
Three years after this tragic event, Jovenel Moïse’s family is still struggling to obtain justice despite the efforts of the courts handling the case. Joverlein Moïse, touched by this situation, assures that he will not give up the fight for “his father, his compass, his president”. “I have often been unable to deal with this reality,” he confides.
According to Joverlein Moïse, the association (ALII), founded a few months ago: “a “The main mission is to shed light on the circumstances of the assassination of the 58th Haitian president, my father Jovenel Moïse, with a pronounced extension of the fight against all forms of impunity and injustice which leave the victims in most cases without a voice and without any possibility of justice.”
“This association was created with the aim of institutionalizing the struggle, because this struggle does not belong to me. It belongs to all those who feel outraged by this act. They (the sponsors) did not only assassinate my father, they assassinated our president. They trampled on our sovereignty. This struggle is therefore that of all Haitians and all those who wish to join this quest for justice, regardless of their origins and nationalities,” continues Joverlein Moïse.
It should be noted that on the same day, the Presidential Transitional Council organized a mass entitled “Time of Reflection and Meditation in memory of the late President Jovenel Moïse” at the Villa d’Accueil, in the presence of Prime Minister Garry Conille.
Let us recall that Martine Moïse, the widow of the president, received a sum of $5,305,387 from the American district judge José Martinez to cover her hospital expenses, her travel and the security services she hired upon her return to Haiti, 10 days after the assassination of her husband. For his part, Joverlein Moïse, eldest son of the late president residing in Quebec, Canada, received a sum of $865,396.
