On Tuesday April 23, 2024, Judge Questel Maximé was assassinated by unidentified armed individuals. In reaction, the Superior Council of the Judicial Power (CSPJ) denounces and condemns this villainous act putting an end to the days of Magistrate Questel Maximé who embodied integrity in his jurisdiction.
“This cowardly assassination is a great loss for the judicial system. The Technical Secretariat of the Superior Council of the Judicial Power bows low before the mortal remains of Magistrate Questel Maximé and also presents, on behalf of all the Members of the Council, its heartfelt condolences to his grieving family, to the Magistrates and staff of the Peace Court of Pilate. It gives full and complete guarantee that this crime will not go unpunished,” writes the CSPJ in a note dated April 24, 2024.
In addition, the institution responsible for regulating the judicial system has indicated that arrangements are being made to ensure that the perpetrators are identified and brought before the courts as soon as possible.
