The former president Jovenel Moïse was assassinated in his private residence in Pèlerin 5, a district of Pétion-ville, by Colombian mercenaries in complicity with Haitians on July 7, 2021. Several of them as well as other key suspects in this murder are behind bars in Haiti and the United States awaiting trial.
July 7, 1800: The war between Rigaud and Toussaint begins again, at Vieux Bourg d’Aquin. Rigaud is defeated again, and the mulatto army retreats. Toussaint tries to negotiate, but Rigaud refuses.
July 7, 1888: New arson attacks in Port-au-Prince. The Ministry of Justice is destroyed. Thompson, the American ambassador, will later say that the smell of gasoline emanated from all the fires of that day, which broke out all over the city. Salomon places guards on all the street corners, without much success.
July 7, 1809 : The French army leaves Santo Domingo for good. – The English evacuate the rest of the French troops defeated by the former slaves and who had taken refuge in the former Spanish part of Santo Domingo since the proclamation of Haitian independence in 1804.
