You can’t stop cattle rustling and senseless killing in northern, but you think you can stop the USA- armed gangs in Haiti? Prezzo, @WilliamsRutobe serious. You will end up as a laughing stalk! Remember this post https://t.co/SyDfwSmLnc

— Dr. Ekuru Aukot (@EAukot) 1 mars 2024 Kenya and Haiti’s monarch, Dr. Ariel Henry, signed deals Friday to try to preserve a plan for the African country to deploy 1,000 police officers to the troubled Caribbean nation to combat gang violence which has reached unprecedented levels.

Kenyan President William Ruto said in a statement that he and Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry attended the signing of the agreements reciprocal between the two countries on Friday.

It could not immediately be determined how, or if, these agreements could circumvent the Court’s ruling, which also declared that the Kenya National Police Service could not be deployed outside the country..

Kenyan opponent Ekuru Aukot, who filed the High Court petition against the deployment, said in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that Mr. Henry did not have the constitutional or legal authority to engage Haiti in any agreement with Kenya.

Kenya agreed in October to deploy an international police force authorized by the UN in Haiti, but the Kenyan High Court ruled this project unconstitutional in January, notably due to the absence of reciprocal agreements between the two countries.
