US embassy engineer shot dead in Kiambu altercation
The Criminal Investigation Department is investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a 35-year-old man on Saturday evening outside the Quickin Lounge in Kiambu. According to a police report obtained by Citizen.Digital, Alfred Nganga, owner of the nightclub, reported the incident around 3:00 a.m.
The victim, Njomo, worked as an engineer for the United States Embassy.
The Quickin Lounge indicated that the incident was filmed by surveillance cameras facing the road, but that the images, considered sensitive, would not be made public. They were viewed in the presence of the deceased’s family and investigators before being handed over to the competent authorities.
The lounge said the victim was not involved in the initial fight. Police officers from Kiambu station, who intervened on the spot, reported that the victim had been hit in the back, with a bullet exiting the chest.
The scene of the shooting was quickly secured and the body transported to the Kenyatta University Hospital morgue.
