Kenya – Judge shot by police inside court, fighting for her life, needs blood

Kenyans of goodwill have been called upon to help save the life of Senior Magistrate Monica Kivuti following a shooting at the Makadara courthouse.

Which hospital was Monica Kivuli admitted to?

The magistrate is fighting for her life after surviving the shooting by a senior police officer known as Samson Kipruto, who was present in the courtroom during the proceedings against his implicated wife.

In a poster shared on Facebook on Thursday, June 13, after the shooting, former LSK vice president Carolyne Kamende asked Kenyans to donate blood to save Monica’s life.

She explained that the magistrate was admitted to the Buruburu Metropolitan Hospital and was in urgent need of blood.

“We pray for the Honorable Monica Kivuti and the injured officers. God is still on his throne, and healing is their lot. Let’s do it, good people.

This is an urgent call for blood donations. Monica Kivuti is being treated at the Buruburu Metropolitan Hospital. Your kindness, selflessness and love are much appreciated,” said Mr. Kamende.

Message from Martha Koome after the shooting

Earlier, Chief Justice Martha Koome said the motive behind the incident at the Makadara courthouse was murder.

The President of the Supreme Court said it was clear that the attacker wanted the bailiff dead.

Expressing concerns over the safety of her colleagues, Ms Koome authorized the immediate closure of the Makadara courthouse and stipulated security measures at the premises before sessions resume.

It turned out that the corrupt policeman was the husband of a suspect, identified as Jennifer Wairimu, who was denied bail.

Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome said the magistrate ruled on a case involving Kipruto’s wife.

According to the police, Kipruto’s wife was accused of obtaining KSh2.9 million through devious means.
