Tuesday, July 16, will remain etched in the memory of Real Madrid fans. The Madrid club and its president Florentino Perez succeeded in an ambitious bet: the presentation of Kylian Mbappé as a new Real Madrid player in front of a sold-out Santiago Bernabeu.
The festivities began with a long speech by Florentino Perez, highlighting the values of the club and welcoming his new recruit. The long-awaited moment then arrived, giving way to Kylian Mbappé who spoke in front of some 80,000 people present.
“Hello everyone. I want to try to speak Spanish. Wow… It’s incredible to be here. I dreamed of this for many years, to play for Real Madrid and today I am realizing my dream. I am a happy boy,” he said to the cheers of the crowd.
Mbappé did not fail to thank President Florentino Perez for the trust he placed in him since the first day, as well as all the people who contributed to making this moment possible. He also expressed his emotion at seeing his family, especially his mother, in tears in the stands.
“It’s an incredible day. I’ve dreamed of this since I was a child and being here means a lot to me. Thanks to the Madridistas who have given me so much love for years. Now I have another dream, to live up to the club’s history. I’m going to give my life for this club and this crest,” he continued with fervour.
Addressing young fans, Mbappe shared an inspiring message: “I have a message for children. I was a child like you. With passion and dreams, you can achieve what you want. I am proud to fulfill my dream and be a player of the best club in the history of football. I do not continue because I will end up crying.”
To conclude, and in a euphoric atmosphere, Mbappé led the crowd in chanting: “And now, all together… 1,2,3… HALA MADRID!!”
Today marks a new era for Real Madrid with the arrival of one of the most talented players of his generation, ready to write his history in the emblematic colours of the club.
