Ligue 1 Dam: FC Metz jeopardizes its chance

FC Metz lost to AS Saint-Étienne (2-1), this Thursday, May 30, 2024, during the first leg play-offs in Ligue 1-Ligue 2, which will finally determine the eighteenth and last place in Ligue 1 for next season following the return match at the Saint-Symphorien stadium.

A match which started under the hats, very early in the match at the 19th minute, ASSE opened the scoring through Sissoko, followed by the equalization of FC Metz at the 45th minute by Ismaël Traoé and finally the greens regain the advantage at 80 minutes of play by Irvin Cardona. An important home victory for the Stéphanois who are taking a serious option for a return to Ligue 1.

Danley Jean-jaques and his partners are in a very bad position after this defeat on the road. To ensure their survival, the GRENATS must win by two goals. 1 goal apart, otherwise they will be in overtime.

With FC Metz the Grenadier played his 34th Ligue 1 match. In the event of a defeat in the return match, the GRENATS will plunge back into Ligue 2.
