Ligue 1: Metz supporters invaded the pitch after the defeat
-
After the defeat against OL, FC Metz supporters invaded the pitch to show their anger.
Nothing is going well at FC Metz. Despite Georges Mikautadze opening the scoring for the locals in the 13th minute, they lost to Olympique Lyonnais (2-1 defeat). A ninth defeat in ten matches, one too many for the supporters, who invaded the pitch at the final whistle.
A more significant action than three weeks ago, when Garnet supporters forced barriers to get to the players’ locker rooms, while injuring numerous police officers with smoke bombs. This time, around a hundred of them stood in front of the presidential platform, shouting “Leadership, resignation”.
“I understand them”
At the end of the match, Georges Mikautadze returned to this invasion of the pitch, and sympathized with the supporters: “I understand them. It’s been 10 games since we won. Of course they are very frustrated, now we are too. We try to do the maximum. We also lack that little bit of success that we don’t have. I hope things turn around quickly for us. »
However, coach László Bölöni knows that his players give their all: “I believe that in terms of will, mental presence, I cannot congratulate but I can say that they did the maximum of what we are capable of. Even some have exceeded their limits. But it wasn’t enough and if it’s not enough once, twice, then there is an explanation and maybe we still have to wait to grow up. »
FC Metz is currently 17th in Ligue 1 with 17 points in 23 matches. Even if retention is still playable, the club’s current form does not seem to work in their favor.
