In a letter addressed to the Secretary General of the National Union of Haitian Police Officers (SYNAPOAH), the coordinator, now resigning, Lionel Lazzare, presented his resignation at the head of the said union. The former coordinator specifies that it is a considered decision and that he is ready to ensure a smooth handover.

After several years at the head of SYNAPOAH, Lionel Lazarre decided to do something else. Thus, he decided to resign as general coordinator of the union. In a letter he sent to the general secretary on July 15, 2024, Mr. Lazarre informed of his decision and specified that he had not made it on a whim. “This decision was not taken lightly and is the result of in-depth consideration. After devoting several years to the service of the union, I believe that it is time for me to take on new challenges and explore other opportunities,” he wrote.

The former number one of the union also gave himself a pat on the back during his time as head of SYNAPOAH and thinks he can retire with a sense of accomplishment. “During my term as general coordinator, I had the honor of representing the interests of police officers who are members and non-members of the union and contributed to improving their working conditions,” he describes, expressing his gratitude to all his colleagues who helped him succeed in his term.

“I remain deeply committed to the union’s mission and will continue to support its efforts to improve working conditions for its members. I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition and to cooperating fully with my successor,” he concluded.
