Luis Rubiales was arrested by Spanish justice

Since August 2023, the former president of the Spanish federation was at the heart of legal news in Spain following his stolen kiss from Jennifer Hermoso, leading to his withdrawal from the federation and his involvement in corruption cases.

At the end of March, Spanish justice, through the Madrid Public Prosecutor’s Office, ordered the arrest of Luis Rubiales and a prison sentence of 2 and a half years and compensation of 500,000 euros.

He was on vacation in the Dominican Republic. Scheduled to land in Spain this coming weekend, Rubiales has moved forward his trip. This Wednesday, upon his arrival at Madrid airport, the former Spanish leader was apprehended by the police.

According to Pedro Jiménez, of Cadena SER, “an agent spoke to him on the plane and they took him away.” What is predictable in this situation is that they will question him, Rubiales will refuse to testify, and it will be the decision of the UCO and the Civil Guard to keep him in the cell or to release him.

« Security forces and organs of state and justice do their job in pursuing delinquents and criminals. » The mere existence of this operation shows that the justice system is working and it is a guarantee for the celebration of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

This is a clear example in a country where justice is the compass of society, where no one is above the law.
