They wanted power, clung to it by any means possible. History is giving them the place they deserve

The “international community”, the business class, people from the wealthy middle classes and the middle bourgeoisie who had not dared to join the vast movement of refusal of the arrival and maintenance in power of a de facto illegitimate government , here is the list of those who became accomplices, sponsors and protectors of a group of irresponsible people whom they are now forced to let go.

They will have stolen two years of the life of a people whose known and respected voices, the crowds gathered despite the repressive fury, the intellectuals, associations and organized sectors, with the notable absence of the business class, demanded a transitional government based on consensus.

We have witnessed from this world a total disregard for the will expressed by the majority of Haitians. They gave themselves the right to decide in place of this majority, using formulas without content such as: “we do not replace a transition with a transition”. But where the hell did they see this transition?

A de facto government without power to convene, without general policy, allied with the gangs who accuse it today of having betrayed them, using the police as a force of repression against civil society, heedless of the fate of displaced populations, using resources of the State in an arbitrary manner, signing agreements with a few rotten people who are no better than him that he does not respect, violating all the principles of the law and the constitution.

Dictatorial and irresponsible. A de facto Prime Minister who grants himself prerogatives reserved for the president. A Minister of Justice who has nothing better to do than go and strut around in an exhibition, while people are pillaging, raping, killing. A Minister of National Education who charms shadows and perhaps a few “white people” by announcing ridiculous and inapplicable measures while violence chases thousands of children from their neighborhoods, while teachers are poorly paid when they are, that schools receive heavy weapons fire when they are not serving as a refuge for the displaced.

This is the bad life to which the supporters of Henry’s clique had chosen to condemn a people. Jovenel Moïse had closed the door to an institutional solution to the political crisis. Upon his death, it was necessary to establish consensual power to ensure the transition to democratic power. There was nothing consensual about Ariel Henry’s de facto government. Even a child could understand this. The children who sing have understood this: pa vle Ariel, pa vle Ariel.

Today, in a situation made even more difficult by these two years of suffering for the majority and personal benefits, we are forced to find a consensual formula for a transitional government.

No one, in the history of this country, from Antoine Simon to General Jacques Gracia, has been so publicly mocked, dismissed and degraded as the de facto Prime Minister and some of his ministers. They wanted power, clung to it by any means possible. History is giving them the place they deserve. It’s the people’s little revenge, not much in fact, considering the evil they have done.

A real consensus. The emergency.

And we must undoubtedly learn to speak more firmly to those who do not listen to us.
