Marijuana trafficking: a Jamaican and a Haitian arrested in Cap-Haitien

Cap-Haïtien police officers arrested, on Tuesday, February 13, Mitchell Winston Evan, originally from Jamaica, and a Haitian whose identity has not been revealed, and seized a quantity of substances assimilated to marijuana. The events occurred in the area called Fort Saint-Michel, around 11 p.m.

“Being on board a vehicle registered TQ 16409, parked at the seaside, accompanied by Lebrun Amos and a young person, aged 21, the name Mitchell Winston Evan threw himself into the water with the vehicle , seeing the arrival of the Cap-Haïtien Intervention Brigade patrol. While Lebrun Amos, owner of a hotel located in the Commune of Limonade, had time to flee,” we read in a note from the police institution.

As for illicit products, the PNH informs that it collaborated with the coast guard and judicial authorities to seize 192.5 kg of substances similar to marijuana, found inside the vehicle registered TQ 16409.

According to the police institution which says it has information, the 21-year-old has already paid a sum of money to Amos Lebrun in order to allow him to travel on board a boat which was to pick up the 78 packets of marijuana seized by law enforcement officers.

“For the moment, the Jamaican and the Haitian are placed in police custody while awaiting the necessary legal action,” concludes the PNH note.
