On Friday June 28, 2024, a crucial meeting was held between the president of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), Edgard Leblanc Fils, and the Rally of EDSEG Students (RE-EDSEG) to resolve the crisis between the Gonaïves School of Law and Economic Sciences (EDSEG) and the Rectorate of the State University of Haiti (R-UEH).
The RE-EDSEG delegation, led by Me Arnel Remy, exposed the economic, administrative and political problems exacerbating the situation, calling for rapid intervention by the CPT.
Hervé Saintilus, general coordinator of RE-EDSEG, opened the meeting by presenting the history of the association, while Jimmy Pierre detailed the crisis and the attempts to restructure the rectorate. Secretaries Gesner C. Nozil and Marie Lordia Bea reported on the steps taken with human rights organizations.
President Leblanc, after asking questions and expressing his understanding of the issues, committed to finding a solution, supported by Max Attys and Me Arnel Remy, who vigorously defended the students’ demands. The meeting ended on a note of cooperation, with the promise of careful follow-up and a definitive resolution.
