Inauguration of a new OFATMA emergency center in Cap-Haïtien: Minister Georges Wilbert Franck calls for the sustainability of health services
The city of Cap-Haïtien hosted the inauguration of a new Emergency Center on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. OFATMAan initiative marked by the presence of the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mr. George Wilbert Franck, the Director General of the Ministry, Ms. Marie Herolle Michel and the Director General of OFATMA, Mr. Carl François.
Minister Georges Wilbert Franck stressed the importance of community collaboration to maintain the hospital in optimal condition and ensure the sustainability of the health services provided. “This hospital structure increases the network of health care services to OFATMA and civil service policyholders to seven. “During my remarks, I stressed the need for the entire community to combine their efforts to keep this hospital fresh in order to perpetuate its potential for standardized care provision,” said the minister.
This center, now the seventh establishment of the OFATMA network, aims to improve the quality of health care offered to OFATMA insured persons as well as civil servants. With 19 rooms, 2 operating rooms equipped with modern equipment, a block for pregnant women and their newborns, 4 consultation rooms, and a laboratory, this hospital structure aims to be a reference in the region.
On the sidelines of this inauguration, Minister Georges Wilbert Franck and Director General Marie Herolle Michel also visited the CODEVI industrial park in Ouanaminthe on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. This visit allowed them to meet with representatives of employers and workers’ unions to discuss the impacts of the Haitian crisis on employment and working conditions in Haiti.
