Naomi Osaka, the famous Haitian-Japanese tennis player, recently shared a mishap on Twitter after losing her luggage during a flight with United Airlines. After traveling on board this airline, Osaka found herself without her belongings, which seriously compromises her participation in the Cincinnati tournament.
Despite the setback, the champion took the situation with humor. “Lol @united lost my luggage and if I don’t get it back tonight or tomorrow, I literally won’t be able to play in Cincinnati,” she joked on Twitter.
The move comes after a period of ups and downs for Osaka on the tour. Recently eliminated by Elise Mertens, she had previously beaten Ons Jabeur at the Rogers Cup in Canada.
Although she is no longer in the world’s top 10, Osaka, now ranked 95th, continues to make waves both on and off the court. Since the birth of her first child, she has struggled to regain her best form, but she remains one of the highest-paid athletes with more than $27 million in earnings, not including her advertising revenue.
While waiting to find her luggage and be able to participate in the tournament, Naomi Osaka keeps smiling and hopeful of returning to the top.
