NYCHA: Apply to Section 8 between June 3 and 9, 2024 Sec 8 Applicants – NYCHA

New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) reopened the waitlist for its Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 12:00 a.m. The application period will be open until Sunday June 9, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. To apply, visit on.nyc.gov/section8-application. For more information on eligibility and other details, visit on.nyc.gov/sec8-app-faq.

If you already submitted an application for Section 8 housing when the waitlist was previously opened, you can log in to the Self-Service Portal to check the status of your application and update your information.

Beware of voucher scams NYCHA does not charge or charge a fee to apply for Section 8 or to process a Section 8 rental. If you receive a request for payment from someone posing as NYCHA staff, report to the NYC Department of Investigation, Inspector General of NYCHA, to [email protected] or at 212-306-3355, or to the HUD Office of Inspector General at 1-800-347-3735 or at www.hudoig.gov/hotline.

Things to Know When Completing a Section 8 Application If you are already on a waitlist, you may be asked to update your preliminary application or submit a complete application. Do not risk your chances of receiving federally assisted housing by providing false, incomplete, or inaccurate information on your application forms.

Refusal of assistance If your request for assistance is denied, NYCHA will notify you and give you the opportunity to appeal the decision.
