Smith Augustin representing RED/EDE/Historical Compromise on the Presidential Transitional Council.
The RED/EDE/Historical Compromise structures have not endorsed a candidate for the post of Prime Minister. These entities considered that a candidacy could compromise the functioning of the Presidential Transitional Council, Loop Haiti learned.
This announcement comes as the deadline for the submission of candidates is set for this Friday, May 17, 2024. Despite this deadline, no figure from the RED/EDE/Historical Compromise structures will position themselves to run for the position of Prime Minister.
However, the Pitit Desalin Party, affiliated with the BMI, persists in its support for Fritz Bélizaire as potential Prime Minister.
Despite the absence of candidates from the aforementioned structures, a list of registrants for the position continues to emerge. This demonstrates the interest given to this function in the country.
Recall that the office of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) announced, on the evening of May 11, 2024, the official launch of the application process to appoint a Prime Minister for the next government. The process is expected to end this Friday, May 17, 2024.
