A slalom that led to a strike in the goal, a dangerous cross in the penalty area to find an unmarked teammate… the debut of Haitian international Nérilia Mondésir, Sunday in the colors of Seattle Reign was remarkable.
Transferred from Montpelier HSC, the Haitian forward, now a player for Seattle, made her debut on Sunday in the American league against the North Carolina Courage team of Haitian-born Naomi Osaka.
Entrance at 75e minute, the Haitian striker brought new blood to the attacking line and created many dangerous opportunities on the right flank, including this well-adjusted cross for Huitema in the Courages’ area. Unfortunately, JI’s shot, served by Huitama, was blocked by a defender from the North Carolina team.
The Haitian striker did not find the net, but she made some sparks during her 15 minutes on the Lumen Field pitch.
The Seattle Reign ended up winning (1-0) in injury time thanks to a late goal from Casey Murphy (90+7).
It’s the Seattle Reign’s first regular season win since May 3 when the Reign won 2-1 against the San Diego Wave.
Nérilia Mondésir and her teammates will travel to Kentucky next Saturday to face Racing Louisville FC and try to secure a second straight win.
