In a decisive match counting for the round of 16 of the USL Championship, the Colorado Springs Switchbacks triumphed against Oakland Roots with a score of 2-0, thus securing a place in the quarterfinals of the competition.

The match, which was held in front of an enthusiastic crowd, saw two Haitian compatriots, Ronaldo Damus and Duke Lacroix, start for the Colorado Springs Switchbacks. Delentz Pierre, also a member of the team, was not lined up at the start of the match. On the Oakland Roots side, Miche Naider Chery was also on the bench, not having had the opportunity to start the match.

The Switchbacks opened the scoring in the 41st minute thanks to a goal from Salvadoran Henriquez Ferrufino, which thrilled the local supporters. Shortly after the start of the second half, in the 53rd minute, Ronaldo Damus doubled the lead for his team by converting a penalty, thus consolidating his team’s advantage.

This victory allows the Colorado Springs Switchbacks to continue their journey in the competition, where they will face Orange County SC in the quarterfinals. This next match is of particular importance for Ronaldo Damus, who previously played for this club.
