OL: Pierre Sage is not aiming for a new goal

Pierre Sage, the coach of Olympique Lyonnais, remains focused on maintaining despite the crazy series.
Pierre Sage has transformed Olympique Lyonnais since his arrival at the end of November, recording 10 wins and 4 losses in 14 matches. These remarkable performances propelled OL to tenth place, providing a significant margin of safety from the relegation zone. Nevertheless, Sage keeps his attention fixed on the main objective: maintenance.
Sage’s priority: ensuring the maintenance
For the Lyon strategist, the mission is not accomplished until the team reaches the critical threshold of 35 points: “Until we have our 35 points, we will always be in the idea of achieving this goal and acting like a team like that“, he declared before detailing the key moments of the duel against Metz: “The best thing we did in this match was to concede a goal. From the moment we conceded a goal, we really played the football we wanted until half-time but we should have equalized before. We scored just before the break and going back to the locker room with that gives us energy. Moreover, it showed at the start of the second half. The end of the match was handled psychologically a little strangely because we cowered, we made a lot of mistakes, disagreements, bad choices. We felt that we were both happy to catch up with the story but also a little afraid to manage this situation and I think we handled it badly at the end of the match.”
He added in conclusion: “Even if there is victory, I admit that in the locker room, the players were not super satisfied. But that’s good, I’m happy that they are becoming demanding and that they are aware of what is happening.”
