Reopening of Quebec municipal libraries on June 27 After several months of strike, Quebec City libraries will finally reopen their doors on June 27. The end of the labor dispute between the Canadian Institute of Quebec (ICQ) and its staff marks the return to normal for users of municipal libraries.

The mayor of Quebec, Mr. Bruno Marchand, expressed his satisfaction with this resolution: “I am delighted that an agreement has been reached between the ICQ and its employees. It was a difficult time for everyone, on which it will finally be possible to turn the page. The reopening of the libraries will of course take a few days to organize, but it is really excellent news to start the summer period.”

All of the city’s libraries will reopen their doors on Thursday, June 27 according to regular schedule. However, to allow staff to return to their duties and prepare the premises, all libraries will remain closed to the public from Sunday June 16 to Wednesday June 26 inclusive, Mr. Marchand said in a press release dated this Saturday.

Restoration activities will include space preparation, documentary classification and reservation management. Users can expect a full return of services from the reopening date.

Quebec City will soon provide additional details regarding the reopening of libraries. Citizens are invited to stay informed of updates to learn more about schedules and available services.
