Clashes broke out on the morning of Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in front of the building housing the office of the National School Canteen Program (PNCS) in Delmas 75. They pitted employees of the institution against activists reputed to be close to Kévenot Dorvil , illegally installed yesterday Monday as the new General Coordinator of the company. According to testimonies, zealous supporters of Kévenot Dorvil arrived on the scene, attacked the employees and boycotted their press conference. Journalists who covered the event were victims.
THE HAITI FACTOR, November 12, 2024._The Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, Antoine Augustin, ordered on Monday November 11, 2024, the illegal and surreptitious installation of Kévenot Dorvil as the new General Coordinator of the National School Canteen Program ( PNCS). Everything took place without the approval of the Coordinator in office, Djina Guillet Delatour.
Offended by this decision of the Minister of National Education, the employees blocked the way of the delegation, thus preventing it from installing Kévenot Dorvil at the PNCS premises, in Delmas 75. Chased away by the employees who were in the space , the members of the delegation went to Delmas 60 to install him at the head of the institution.
In reaction after the installation deemed illegal and arbitrary, the Union of Employees of the National School Canteen Program (SE-PNCS) announced the holding of a press conference at the premises of the institution to denounce the act carried out by the Minister.
In the process, “zealous” supporters and activists of the new General Coordinator arrived on the scene and attacked the speakers and other employees who accompanied them.
In addition to the physical attack against members of the employees’ union and others, certain journalists who covered the event suffered the same fate from those close to Kévenot Dorvil.
In the process, they seized several materials from certain press workers to the point of breaking certain devices, while others were injured when one of the attackers almost hit them with a vehicle in his possession.
It took police intervention to try to regain control of the situation and calm the tension which was escalating between the two groups. Two relatives of the new General Coordinator were reportedly arrested by the police officers dispatched to the scene.
Until midday, the situation was tense in front of the barrier of the building housing the office of the National School Canteen Program (PNCS). Employees block access to the main entrance to anyone while waiting for the arrival of a Justice of the Peace to report the facts.
