Designated President of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) by the majority of members, Edgard Leblanc Fils sees the urgency and the need to free Haiti from the influence of armed gangs. In a brief speech, he gave the guarantee that the Presidential Advisors will work in perfect synergy in order to show positive signals on the security level.
THE HAITI FACTOR, April 30, 2024._While everyone expected the election to be held to know the identity of the President of the Transitional Council, the majority of members forming the structure decided otherwise.
Made up of 4 members including Édgard Leblanc Fils (Political parties collective January 30), Smith Augustin (EDE-RED & Compromis bloc), Emmanuel Vertilaire (Pitit Dessalines) and Louis Gérald Gilles (December 21 agreement), it (the majority) has made the choice of the first city to take the reins of the presidential structure.
At the end of his appointment, the President of the Council, Edgard Leblanc Fils spoke to the press. In a short speech, he focused on the urgent needs of the country to allow the population to breathe a breath of fresh air.
First, on the political level, the number one in the presidential structure declared that the designation is a definitive step towards resolving the crisis. To achieve this, it is up to the Council quickly, he said, to begin the process of forming a Government.
He also announced the taking of major decisions on the security level to free the country from armed violence of all those who cause numerous victims, in particular internally displaced persons, women victims of rape, families whose houses are burned by bandits as well as entrepreneurs having their institutions looted by the latter, among others.
This is why, he recalls, that the Presidential Council had organized on Monday April 29, a working meeting with the High Commands of the Police, the Army and the specific units responsible for the security of the National Palace in order to to address the problems of insecurity and provide solutions.
The Presidential Advisors are also committed to working for stability and total economic recovery through public and private institutions, continues the former OPL Senator.
In relation to the worsening situation, President Edgard Leblanc Fils, in conclusion, calls for consensus in order to allow the Presidential Council to respect the 2-year mandate and succeed in its political agenda.
