The Presidential Transitional Council affirmed on Monday May 13, 2024 its commitment to restoring security in the country, following the recent attack perpetrated by armed gangs against the Gressier police station.

“The Presidential Transitional Council guarantees to the population that in a short time the bandits will stop making laws on their bodies, in their homes, in their neighborhoods, in their towns and in the countryside,” assured the CPT, calling for collective collaboration in the fight against insecurity.

The Presidential Council noted that panic seems to have gripped the gangs, highlighting a change in the situation, and insisted on the only option for the bandits: to lay down their weapons and surrender to justice.

“The greatest urgency is to eradicate banditry in the country and, by extension, insecurity. Citizens can no longer afford to wait. It is our duty to guarantee the security of all residents of the country “, underlined the Council in the document.

Note that this statement follows the announcement by the Haitian National Police that the situation in Gressier, following the armed attack, is once again under control.

Remember that on the night of Friday 10 to Saturday May 2024, individuals armed to the teeth invaded the town of Gressier, setting fire to the police station and attacking the residence of a PNH official
