Prime Minister Ariel Henry proceeded with the installation of members of the High Council of Salaries and members of the Board of Directors of social security bodies.
The Prime Minister Ariel Henry proceeded this Monday, February 5, 2024 to the installation of the members of the Board of Directors of the social security bodies and the Higher Council of Salaries. The ceremony took place at the Prime Minister’s office in the presence of directors general and senior executives of the public administration, representatives of the worker and employer sectors. The head of the Haitian government reiterates the desire of those in power to guarantee the enjoyment of the right to social security of its fellow citizens.
At the start of his interventions, Ariel Henry indicated that the revitalization of the CSS and the CAOSS responds to the obligation to address the problems of minimum wage and social security, often sources of great tension in the country. He also showed his government’s desire to guarantee the enjoyment of the right to social security for Haitians. “The Government renews its commitment to guaranteeing the enjoyment of the right to social security of its fellow citizens, in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the amended Haitian Constitution of 1987”declared the head of the Prime Minister’s Office.
Furthermore, Ariel Henry believes that to achieve the objective, key structures must fulfill their roles well. “To achieve this, we must therefore ensure that all the country’s social security structures, including CAOSS, play their role”he launched, while emphasizing the responsibility of the Ministry of Social Affairs to establish, on the basis of national solidarity, an appropriate Social Security regime against physiological, economic, social and other risks.
For the Prime Minister, this ceremony clearly shows his government’s desire to ensure balance between employers and employees in labor relations and to guarantee the right to social security.
Ariel Henry also took the opportunity to highlight the adoption by the Haitian State in June 2020 of a National Policy Document for Social Protection and Promotion (#PNPPS) of the Republic of Haiti with the objective of sustainably reducing poverty , reduce inequalities, and promote the empowerment of Haitians, he said.
Present at this installation ceremony, Pierre Ricot Rodney, Minister of Social Affairs, called on the various members of the CSS and CAOSS to take the law as a compass so that they can do their work in complete transparency.
The Minister of Social Affairs also recalled the heavy responsibilities that await the new members of the CSS and CAOSS, while emphasizing that they have the confidence of the government team. Pierre Ricot Rodney listed for a few minutes the tasks of the Board of Directors of the social security bodies and the Higher Wages Council.
However, the MAST holder promises dignified support to new members, while indicating that he will not interfere in their work.
Remember that the members of the CSS and CAOSS were appointed by a decree published in the official journal of the Republic of Haiti at number 5 on Tuesday, January 23.
