Prime Minister Garry Conille, accompanied by Presidential Advisor Louis Gérald Gilles and the Director General of the Haitian National Police, Rameau Normil, visited the State University Hospital of Haiti (HUEH) this Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
The images shared by the Prime Minister’s office show these officials in the middle of the establishment’s dilapidated infrastructure.
During a press briefing held on Monday, the Director General of the PNH, Rameau Normil, announced that the authorities had taken back possession of the hospital.
Haiti’s largest hospital center had been occupied by armed groups for several months, in the immediate vicinity of the National Palace.
After being forced to close since February 29, 2024, the general hospital had been hoping to restart its activities since the beginning of April, but without success.
