Gérald Germain: Leadership for an orderly transition in Haiti.
As part of efforts for a peaceful and orderly transition in accordance with the Political Agreement of April 3, 2024, the civil society organization LANSE-Haïti, member of the ISC, officially proposed the candidacy of Gérald Germain for the position of Prime Minister.
Gérald Germain, a respected figure in the Haitian economic and political sphere, is recognized for his role as monetary policy advisor to the Governor of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti and his impressive academic career as Professor of Economics at the State University of Haiti.
His diverse portfolio includes significant experiences such as Minister of Trade and Industry, Social Affairs and Labor, senior UNDP expert, as well as ambassadorial positions with renowned international organizations.
LANSE-Haiti, in its submission letter, highlighted the integrity, leadership skills and non-partisan approach of Mr. Germain as essential qualities for the position of Prime Minister during this critical period. The organization expresses confidence in its ability to work collaboratively with the Presidential Transition Council and various sectors of society to ensure a smooth transition towards stability and prosperity.
At the same time, LANSE-Haiti also formalized its adherence to the agreement creating the Presidential Transitional Council, reiterating its support for a return to constitutional normality within a reasonable time frame.
The application file of Mr. Germainmeticulously prepared, includes documents attesting to its professional and academic background, as well as its compliance with legal and ethical requirements.
